Plus-size model Tess Holliday has opened up about her struggles with motherhood in a new Instagram post.

The 31-year-old is mum to elder son Rylee and 8-month-old son Bowie - who’s currently teething, a phase which is really taking its toll.

Tess shared a picture of herself in tears, eyes closed in despair, and explained in the caption:

"This is the reality of being a mom.

"I've been up since 3am, & every time I get Bowie to sleep & try to lay him down, he wakes up.

"He is teething & has no clue I have to work today, & most days I can work 15-hour days, take care of both boys & put some lipstick on & deal with it.

"Most days I drink my coffee & smile at every little thing he does thinking it's the best thing in the world, but not today. I've been crying for nearly two hours, & I'm crying as I write this.

"I've reached my limit, exceeded it to be honest.”

In the same post, she also talked about how her confidence has taken a huge knock since giving birth the 2nd time round ? especially since she works in an industry based largely on looks, and by her own admission, she's a bit knackered ?

We can’t fully relate to that bit, to be honest (cos we’re not models), but many mums who’ve gone through the teething stage with their little one can empathise with Tess’s feelings here.

Or, at the very least, loads of us will know that ‘get up and get on with it’ mentality Tess is talking about. Because sometimes, no matter how hard parenting (and life) can be, we just have to.

Don't get us wrong, we reckon that's a good mindset to have most of the time.

But there will always be days where you need a good sob. A clear-out of the emotional cobwebs. A grown-up tantrum, if you will.

And that’s alright, too ?
