Mum from viral 'Bun In The Oven' video shares first pics of premature baby
After 17 years of trying to have a baby and 4 miscarriages, Dana Graves finally became a mum last month
The couple who made us cry with their 'Bun in the Oven' baby announcement video in September have shared the first photos of their premature baby boy. Dana was due to give birth on 16 February, but gave birth to her son Kaleb a month ago at just 24 weeks.
Dana Graves tried to have a baby for 17 years and had 4 miscarriages before finally breaking the news to her husband Arkell that she was 19 weeks pregnant in September.
Seeing as the news was a long time coming, she planned a special announcement – placing her baby scan photo amongst the buns (in the oven) and when it finally sunk in, the dad-to-be broke into tears of joy. The video went viral and has been viewed over 10m times on YouTube.
And now, the couple have finally shared the first photos of their baby boy.
When he was born, Kaleb weighed just 13oz, but now he weighs 1lb 5oz. Sharing photos to celebrate their son's 1-month birthday, the couple wrote: "It's official, Kaleb is 1 month old and we are so grateful. Thank you for the continued prayers, they are working!"
After gaining so much public interest with their pregnancy announcement, the couple have been updating their 135,000 fans with their progress.
"If someone would have told me six weeks ago when I was laying in the hospital bed and I was in the ICU department, that I would be here today, I wouldn’t believe it," Griffin-Graves told 8News.
"I’m very humbled to the fact that so many people are praying for us and the prayers are actually working," new dad Arkell Graves added. "We can actually feel them. They’re amazing."
When they shared photos of Kaleb, they were overwhelmed with good wishes from fans. "I'm so overjoyed to see you holding your baby bun and him get to smell and feel his mommy's skin. What an awesome feel sweetie. Love you," one wrote.
"Beautiful pictures! My heart is so happy and thank you for reminding me of that first time I held my boy in the NICU. It's such a moment," another added.
