Mum says goodbye to her "baby" just before she goes into labour
Can you relate to this? Thousands of mums across the world say they can
Every now and then, a photo surfaces on the internet that just gets to you. And here at MFM HQ - this is totally one of them.
The picture was shared on Crowned Photography's Facebook page, and shows mum Nikki Colquitt hugging her little girl on her pregnant stomach just before she leaves the hospital while mummy gives birth to her sibling.
The accompanying caption reads: "Pure sweetness. Last hugs before saying goodbye to momma & the last time she would sit on that big round belly with her sister still inside."
Just wow ?
Speaking to the Daily Mail about the pic, photographer Laura Paulescu said:
"At first glance, it's not one of those birth images that would grab your attention, but this is the beauty of true documentary birth photography.
"I capture the moments around a family welcoming their new baby just as they happen naturally.
"They [the mum and child] stayed like that for just a few sweet moments before her [the mother's] daughter quickly climbed down and was off playing with her big brother, oblivious to how much her life would be changing overnight."
For many of the mums who saw the photo it captured the feelings they had when having a second baby (though we know this little girl does have a big brother already), and caused some real outpouring of emotions.
One mum wrote: "At 35 weeks pregnant with my second this really tugs at the heart strings. My son loves my belly and I just hope he can understand everything that is about to happen."
Another said: "I remember feeling so sad before our son was born. Remy and I have this special bond. And it would no longer be just us. We tried to make those months before so special for her and spent time with her.
"Then Mason was born and she struggled for a while. And it broke my heart to see her so sad and struggling. Even now, she still has some hard days, and we just reassure her of how much she is loved and it's ok to feel how she feels."
And another put it succinctly : "A big moment... when an only child becomes a child that has to share their mummy ?"
Awwwww, this one's really got us welling up today ?
