A third of new mums feel under pressure to go back to work after having a baby, a new survey has found.

The poll by MyVoucherCodes asked 1,521 mums in full-time employment how they felt about going back to work after welcoming their baby, with 35% admitting to feeling pressured to return after their maternity leave.

Of these mums, a massive 56%, said they went back as they were worried about their career coming to a halt if they took more time off than the standard paid maternity leave. And 27% feared losing their role in the company.

Out of the mums that did feel pressured to go back to work, 19% said they returned before the end of their allocated maternity leave.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. While 74% said they miss spending time with their babies, 55% said they had been looking forward to going back to work during their maternity leave because they missed the working environment (and the office banter we’re sure!).
