Twilight's Nikki Reed taking 'one month vow of silence' after giving birth
The actress also revealed the hippy chic name she's picked for her baby girl...
Many congrats are in order for actress Nikki Reed, and her husband Ian Somerhalder ??
The famous Hollywood vamps (her in Twilight, him in The Vampire Diaries) have welcomed their 1st child together, a baby girl they've named Bodhi Soleil Reed Somerhalder.
???
Reports say that baby Bodhi was born on 25 July, but it seems that family and friends have yet to meet the little one.
As Nikki revealed to Fit Pregnancy magazine, she and Ian won't be taking visitors for the first month of her life.
“We’ll take the baby’s first month for ourselves," she told the mag. "After the baby arrives, we’re doing one month of silence.
"Just the three of us, no visitors, and we’re turning off our phones too, so there’s no expectation for us to communicate.
"Otherwise, every five minutes it would be, ‘How are you feeling? Can we have a picture?’
"You don’t get those first 30 days back, and we want to be fully present.”
?
Well, it doesn't look like it's a total silence to us - it seems Nikki and Ian are both still accessing Instagram and sharing candid pics of themselves, though not of their baby.
But we do get that it's a thing - this idea of no distractions, no unwanted visitors, just you, your baby and your partner embracing the chaos and the extreme love and the exhaustion and the madness of it all.
We really do get it, and we actually think it's kind of a sweet idea - in principle.
But in reality, we don't think any of us here at MFM HQ would've been able to cope without seeing another soul for a whole 30 days.
Not to mention the fact we needed to be texting questions non-stop, Googling things. There's no way we could've coped if we hadn't cried onto our own parents' shoulders at least once.
And where's the fun in making your own cuppa, when you can force distant relatives who've 'popped by' for their 'quick' visit to do it?
LOL ?
One MFMer did admit, though, that she wished she HAD taken at least a few days after the birth to do the radio silence thing.
If only so she could get her thoughts together before the onslaught of visitors came...
What do you think?
Do you like the idea of Nikki and Ian's 'one month silence' policy - or were you happy to have family and friends around you straight away?
Perhaps you're a bit more reasoned and would be happiest on a middle ground?
