Parents are feeling financial pressure of the school holidays
25% of mums are suffering from summer holiday money blues, reveals survey
The six week school holidays are among us, but according to a survey by Lego UK, 47% of mums are worried about the costs of entertaining their children throughout the summer.
Younger mums are the most concerned about the cost of keeping their little ones occupied, with 59% of mums aged between 25-34 years old ‘dreading’ the holiday season.
Almost one third of parents (30%) have revealed that their main worry was the pressure to come up with new and exciting things to do and play. Many parents fear that their children will feel somehow deprived or that they have lost out if they don’t go to all the high profile (and high cost) attractions over the summer holidays.
But don’t worry - there are many wonderful and free activities that your child can get stuck into. You can even try keeping a summer holiday journal, in which they can record all the fun and thought provoking things they did, to show off to their friends after the six weeks are over.
What do you think? Have you got the summer holidays sorted or are you stuck for things to do over the next six weeks? Let us know below…
