Looking at Peaches Geldof with six-month-old son Astala, you would think her journey to motherhood was easy. But, the new mum was once told she could never have kids.

The model and infamous ‘it’ girl revealed at 17 she was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries, which meant conceiving would be difficult.

“I was really upset because I always knew I wanted kids and then I was told I would need major intervention if that was to happen,” Peaches told ELLE magazine.

Three years down the line, Peaches suffered further problems and was rushed to hospital after an ectopic pregnancy.

“I woke up in the night in the worst pain. It was like something was ripping me apart. I had no idea I was pregnant,” added Peaches.

“I was taken to hospital and they discovered what it was. But I had to have an operation and the doctor told me he’d have to remove my fallopian tube. I was crying and begging him not to.”

“When I woke up, he told me he’d save the tube but it was badly damaged and my chances of having kids had gone from slim to almost non-existent.”

The 23-year-star admitted she was so desperate to have a baby that she even considered freezing her eggs in a bid to protect her fertility.

“I was thinking about freezing my eggs and all these things, but you have to face the idea you just won’t have children.”

Peaches gave birth to her and hubby Thomas Cohen’s son Astala in April this year and already believes he’ll be a heartbreaker when he’s older.

Peaches, we’re glad your dream of having a baby has finally come true!
