Peppa Pig beats The Gruffalo to be named best-loved children’s story character
Children’s favourites also credited with helping children understand complex feelings
Peppa Pig and The Gruffalo are the most popular animal characters in children’s books, according to a survey of 1,500 UK parents.
According to the parents, who had children aged 4 to 11 years, Peppa Pig was the fave for one in five children, with the Gruffalo in close second, with 18% of the vote.
Many parents also felt that the childhood favourites played a part in their child’s development with 92% saying that the characters had helped their child’s understanding of emotions, reports the Telegraph.
