How did Pippa meet James?

Pippa and former racing driver-turned-hedge fund manager husband James met a decade prior to their engagement, reports the Daily Mail.

James is 8 years her senior, but upon meeting Pippa for the very first time, is said to have ‘known she was the one instantly’.

The Middleton and Matthews families became friends, and holidayed together in St Barth’s, where James’s family own a hotel.

James apparently waited patiently for Pippa to ‘outgrow’ their age gap, and also outgrow several serious boyfriends, before ‘woo-ing’ her.

Now, we can’t say for sure all this is really how it went down. This is what's been reported. We’ve never had a tell-all interview from these two, and we reckon it’s not likely one's coming soon.

However, we do know that the couple did eventually agree to marry one another. James proposed to Pippa in the Lake District, in July 2016.

Pippa Middleton’s wedding

On 20 May 2017, Pippa married James at St Mark’s Church in Berkshire. The church resides on Englefield Estate, which so happens to be near Pippa’s family home, Bucklebury Manor.

Pippa’s sister Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, played a vital role on the big day, and her eldest kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, served as page boy and bridesmaid, with a host of other young children.

Naturally, the bride looked elegant and radiant in a lace gown with a high neck, designed by Giles Deacon. The dress reportedly cost a whopping... wait for it... £40,000!

Pippa’s 1st pregnancy

Around April 2018, Pippa didn’t so much announce her pregnancy as the news just sort of… slipped out? Appeared? Was leaked by a friend?

In June 2018, however, she confirmed that the rumours were true in a written column for Waitrose magazine, all about keeping fit during pregnancy.

A very low key announcement, we think, given some celebs prefer to make a big splash!

Fun fact: Pippa was pregnant at the same time as James’ brother’s girlfriend, Vogue Williams, who was also expecting for the first time.

Pippa welcomes a baby boy

On 15 October 2018, at 1.58pm, Pippa gave birth to a baby boy at St Mary’s Hospital, in London. The baby weighed 8lbs 9oz, according to the Daily Mail’s Rebecca English. The little one is the first child for both parents.

The new arrival’s name has been revealed as Arthur, with middle names Michael and William also chosen.

Not only is the name Michael Pippa’s father’s name, but James’s elder brother, who disappeared aged 22 while climbing Mount Everest, was also called Michael.

So the middle moniker is certainly a fitting tribute ? William might also be a nod to Pippa's brother-in-law, Prince William.
