Pippio? Frickie? How to get a unique baby name (guaranteed)
We've seen the list, and we must admit we're not entirely convinced...
OK, so you've been through ALL the baby name lists - gender neutral, retro, nature-inspired, etc etc blah blah ad infinitum and you STILL can't find that all-important baby name that jumps out and says choose ME? Perhaps your dilemma is about to be solved...
A tech whizz named Andrej Karpathy has come up with a baby name generator to top them all, designed to create totally unique names based on a database of 8,000 existing ones.
Among the names it's created so far are (wait for it...):
- Cathilia
- Dawel
- Stelia
- Battey
- Gabry
- Marli
- Nettiny
- Edida
- Cor
- Elurica
- Aborta
- Sand
In case they seem a little far-fetched for your tastes, it might be worth remembering that a number of studies in recent years have suggested giving your child an unusual name could mean they grow up to have an exceptionally artistic streak, so if that's your bag it might be worth considering.
Adam Atler, a professor of psychology at New York University, told Yahoo Parenting:
'It's a self-fulfilling prophecy that begins with an unusual name and ultimately leads to unconventional or creative thinking.'
Hmmm, think we'll stick to Amelia and Oliver. What do you reckon?
