Over in Dubai, women wanting to stay looking younger for longer are considering a new alternative to plastic surgery: placenta!

The human placenta serum is a treatment that, at £170 an hour, promises to rejuvenate skin by being absorbed quickly and boosting collagen production.

The US manufacturer claims the afterbirth is from Russian babies and is donated voluntarily. The serum is being offered in the salon of British therapist Mona Mirza.

"The moment the molecule is put on the skin it penetrates and absorbs directly into your skin. Your own collagen starts to mimic the baby collagen and cells that are going in," Mirza told Sky News. However, there's currently no scientific backing to prove the treatment has any such effect.
