Rebekah Brooks has a baby by surrogate mother
Former News International chief becomes mum to a baby girl
Rebekah Brooks welcomed her new baby girl, Scarlett Anne Mary Brooks, who was born yesterday in a surrogate birth, weighing 6lb 1oz.
The surrogate mum, who wishes to remain anonymous, gave birth to baby Scarlett at 37 weeks.
Rebekah, 43, and her husband, ex-racehorse trainer Charlie Brooks, 48, spent years trying to conceive naturally before deciding to use a surrogate mum. The couple are said to be “overjoyed” with the birth of their first child.
The surrogate mum was initially pregnant with twins, but the baby girl’s twin died during the first stages of the pregnancy.
“Both Rebekah and Charlie are obviously overjoyed and will forever be greatful to the surrogate for bringing her into the world. It has not been a pregnancy without difficulties. They lost a baby very early on,” announced David.
“It has been a difficult pregnancy and obviously all parties are now absolutely overjoyed that she has now arrived,” David added.
Rebekah was arrested on suspicion of phone hacking in July last year after news that a private detective working for the paper hacked the mobile phone of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler.
