Nottingham's official Robin Hood, Tim Pollard, and his Maid Marian, Sally Chappell, are the proud parents of Scarlett Louise, who was born on Boxing Day.

Tim, who's been the town's Robin for 20 years said, "Sally and I are incredibly proud to announce birth of the wonderful and beautiful Scarlett Louise Pollard at 6.20pm on 26th December 2013. She's gorgeous, happy and healthy and both her and Sal are doing brilliantly, and we're all overwhelmed with joy."

The couple, who live in Beeston, named their baby Scarlett Louise – not Little John (after one of Robin Hood's fellow Merry Men), as Tim had jokingly threatened during the pregnancy.

Sally, who is a genetics lecturer at the University of Nottingham, was "just friends" with Mr Pollard before she became Maid Marian seven years ago – to help promote tourism in the area, and take part in civic events, including the annual Robin Hood Pageant. She and Tim announced their pregnancy – and baby Scarlett's birth – on Robin Hood's official Facebook page.
