Roblox introduces new parental tools to help families manage kids' gaming
New tools let parents block games, monitor screen time and manage who their child interacts with

If your child is obsessed with Roblox, you’re not alone. Now, the gaming platform has launched three brand new parental control tools to help you stay in the loop and keep their play safe.
For many children, Roblox is more than just a game – it’s a virtual playground, social space and creative hub all rolled into one. But with millions of users and endless content to explore, it’s easy for parents to feel unsure about what their child is really doing online.
Now, Roblox has introduced three new parental control features to help families manage how their children use the platform. These tools are designed to offer more visibility, control and peace of mind, whether your child is building a digital world or chatting with friends.
These tools, features, and innovations reflect our mission to make Roblox the safest and most civil online platform in the world.
Block specific friends directly from your child’s list
One of the standout new tools is Friend Management, which gives parents the ability to block specific people from their child’s friends list. This means if you spot someone you don’t recognise or feel unsure about, you can immediately stop them from sending your child messages. You can also report any suspicious or inappropriate contacts directly to Roblox.
It’s a simple but powerful way to manage who your child can interact with – without needing to take full control of their account.
Restrict access to particular games and content
While parents could already set a content maturity level for their child’s Roblox account, a new feature called Experience Blocking allows you to go even further.
Now, you can block specific games or experiences entirely. So if there’s a popular game you’re not comfortable with – maybe it’s too scary, too violent or just not age-appropriate – you can prevent your child from accessing it at all, even if it falls within their general maturity setting.
See exactly what your child is playing – and for how long
Curious about how your child is spending their time on Roblox? With Detailed Screen Time Insights, you’ll now be able to see the top 20 experiences your child has played over the past week, including how much time they spent in each one.
It’s a great way to understand their gaming habits, identify anything concerning, and decide whether any experiences need to be blocked.
You can also continue to set daily screen time limits, helping you manage your child’s time online more effectively.
How to get started with the new controls
To use these new tools, you’ll need to link your Roblox account with your child’s, which requires a one-time verification using ID or a credit card. Once linked, you can access all parental controls – including the new features – via the Roblox app or website.
You’ll also be able to set spending limits, manage chat settings, and adjust privacy preferences from the same dashboard.
More safety features coming to Roblox
These updates build on more than 40 safety improvements rolled out in 2024, which include stricter content labelling, chat restrictions for users under 13, and enhanced moderation tools.
Roblox also announced an upgraded version of its open-source voice safety AI – a tool that helps detect inappropriate language in real-time voice chats. This new version can now moderate conversations in seven additional languages, including Spanish, French and Japanese, making it even more effective across the global platform.
As part of its wider safety efforts, Roblox has also updated its online Safety Center with advice and support for families on managing their child’s experience.
What this means for parents
With over 71 million daily active users, Roblox continues to be one of the most popular gaming platforms for children – and one of the most talked-about among parents.
These new tools are a welcome step in helping families feel more informed and in control.
Whether your child is a regular Roblox player or just starting out, now might be the perfect time to check in, update your parental controls, and make sure their experience is as fun and safe as possible.
