Ross Kemp has become a dad for the second time and couldn't be prouder. The ex-Eastenders actor welcomed a baby boy with his wife Renee O'Brien.

"What a day! Mum and baby doing well, Dad very proud! 6lbs 7oz, born at 10.54am. Happy boy, asleep already!" he tweeted on Thursday.

Ross quietly married his lawyer wife in 2012 – and the secretive couple managed to keep Renee's pregnancy under wraps until she gave birth too!

Ross was previously in a long-term relationship with Nicola Coleman – with whom he has a young son. And before that he was in a very high profile marriage to former News Of The World editor, Rebekah Wade.

We're used to seeing Ross, 50, as a bit of a tough guy: first playing Grant Mitchell alongside his screen brother Phil in what we regard the golden age of the BBC soap, and then doing extreme things such as hanging out with American gangs, in Afghanistan and wild places. So it's great to see his soft side, as a dad.

And it's not the first time we've seen a 'hard man' show off his sentimental side once he's a dad either. Last month, Vin Diesel (who's best known for playing the ultimate tough guy in action films like The Chronicles of Riddick) shared an adorable pic of him cuddling his new baby daughter and alsorevealed he named his newborn daughter Pauline after his late The Fast and the Furious co-star Paul Walker.
