After it was revealed last week that New Zealand officials have forbidden the use of any baby name that might imply a child holds an official title or rank, America's annual list of popular baby names tells a different story.

In America the name Major was revealed as the boys name that jumped the most on the Social Security Administration's list of top baby names, reports The Guardian.

It seems as if there is a royal influence on the most poular names, with the very regal names King and Major highlighted as among the fastest-rising baby names for Amerian boys. The name Elizabeth has also appeared back in the top ten baby names for girls, knocking Chloe out of the running.

The list also revealed that Jacob held its position as the most popular boys name for the fourteenth year running, and Sophia topped the list for the second time as most popular for girls.
