Ryan Reynolds shares his dos and don'ts for dads in the delivery room
In a hilarious GQ video, Ryan has a pull-no-punches attitude to the dad role during labour...
We love Ryan Reynolds here at MFM.
His dry tweets and frank anecdotes about parenting never fail to amuse us... and his latest take on all things fatherhood doesn't disappoint.
In a new GQ vid, to celebrate his Man Of The Year title, the dad of 2 offered his best advice for soon-to-be fathers on how to handle the whole labour thing.
It's something he’s well-equipped to talk about, given that his own wife, actress Blake Lively, gave birth to their 2nd child in late September this year.
The couple also have a daughter, James, born in December 2014, so it certainly wasn't Ryan’s first rodeo.
Definitely watch the full video for all of Ryan’s tips… though here are 3 of our faves:
1. “Be judicious with the photographs you take because a photo of your daughter crowning hanging on the refrigerator isn’t going to help anyone.”
2. “You need to realise you’re pretty much the least important thing in the room. It’s gonna go: your wife, your baby, the doctor, the nurse, a doula if you have one, the air.”
3. “When your wife asks if everything’s OK down there, just respond in the affirmative. Don’t yell ‘better than ever!’”
Blimey at that last one ? but LOL at everything else ?
Your advice
So, dads, what do you think? Do you agree/disagree with Ryan’s words of wisdom? And mums - what would your advice to dads in the delivery room be?
