Sarah Jessica Parker’s surrogate twins arrive
Surrogate mum gives birth to girls for Sex & the City star and her husband.
The bouncing baby girls, who have been named Marion Elwell and Tabitha Hodge, were born a month early in an Ohio hospital on Monday evening.
“The babies are doing beautifully and the entire family is over the moon,” their publicist has said in a statement.
SJP and husband Matthew Broderick chose surrogacy after revealing they were struggling to conceive naturally this time around. They already have their son, James Wilkie, 6.
The Broderick-Parker family were thrilled about the unborn girls joining their clan, especially little James who couldn’t wait to be a big bro, but he was feeling nervous at the same time. Dad Matthew revealed on the Late Show with David Letterman, “He’s pretty excited. He’s just now thinking, ‘Wait a minute, am I?’”
The couple faced an unexpected backlash when the news was announced, and the surrogate mother even received death threats. SJP spoke out at her concern of the pregnant woman’s safety and pleaded for respect. “I am incredibly outraged by the sort of extraordinary and unprecedented invasion of her privacy. It’s not acceptable,” she told Access Hollywood at the time.
The happy family are all smiles now – and we expect these baby girls to be the best-dressed babies in showbiz!
