Singer Sophie-Ellis Bextor is the ultimate multi-tasking mum, making juggling work and children look easy. With a solo pop career spanning 12 years and three children in tow, she’s certainly one modern mama!

“I grew up in a big family, so you tend to copy things,” Sophie told the Metro. Asked whether she’s addicted to having children, Sophie jokes, “I do seem to quite like them.”

But having a busy career and bringing up kids has it’s hardships. Sophie explains how she once bought a £100 Pink Panther poster and her eldest son Sonny, 8, has never let her live it down.

“Sonny was outraged because to him £100 is the top price for anything. Even now he’s eight he gets cross about it. He says, ‘You spent £100 on a poster and you hardly even look at it’.”

Sonny isn’t the only one to tell it to Sophie straight. On a visit to a fortune teller with her hubby Richard (bassist from The Feeling) she was told, ‘You’ll have two children’ before Richard was told ‘You’ll have three’. Sophie chuckles, “That was a clever bit of fortune telling”.

Sophie admits that while she’s had two complicated pregnancies, it hasn’t put her off.

“The first two ended more prematurely than I anticipated, but the doctors reassured me it shouldn’t keep happening to me and there were no problems at all with my third baby, which was lovely.

“Luckily the happy ending is they always get big and strong and healthy. Most women’s pregnancies don’t go exactly as anticipated and it doesn’t seem to put other people off,” Sophie adds.
