Spice Girls hope stage musical will introduce their children to their hits
It’s been some time coming but, finally, the Spice Girls got back together yesterday to unveil the new stage musical Viva Forever, featuring the band’s songs.
The band, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, Mel C and Mel B, have all had children since becoming the best-selling female group of all time after releasing their first hit, Wannabe, in 1996.
Mum-of-two Emma said that her son Beau, 4, doesn’t know who the Spice Girls are, according to the Belfast Telegraph. She has another son, Tate, who is 13-months-old.
“My boys haven’t got a clue who we are,” Emma said. “(Beau) says, ‘The Spice Girls?’ so I can’t wait for him to see what we’re about and hear the music.”
Geri said, “My daughter (Bluebell), I haven’t really told her about the Spice Girls and she keeps on coming home, and I was really surprised about this, she’s only 6, that her school friends know who we are.
“I feel really proud of that, that she’s just loving the music and singing along to it. I’m like, ‘Wow!’”
Victoria, aka Posh Spice, left the reunion quickly to return to LA and to her and David Beckham's daughter Harper, who is 11 months-old. Mel B has 3 children, with baby Madison the youngest Spice baby at 9-months. Mel C has a 3-year-old daughter, Scarlett.
The show, written by Jennifer Saunders and produced by Mamma Mia producer Judy Craymer, will open in London’s West End in December.
