Thomas Cohen reveals how everyday parenting helped him cope with Peaches' death
The father of 2 had to throw himself into dad mode, just an hour after discovering his wife had died
Thomas Cohen, the widower of Peaches Geldof, has opened up about his life as a dad in an honest interview with German newspaper Bild.
In April 2014 Peaches was found dead in the couple’s home, having passed away from a heroin overdose at the age of 25.
Thomas is now raising the 2 sons he shared with Peaches, 4-year-old Astala and 3-year-old Phaedra, alone.
The 25-year-old musician discussed many aspects of his life - but went into some detail about how parenting has helped him cope with his loss.
He told a story about how, just minutes after discovering Peaches had died, everyday dad duties had to come first.
It was lunchtime, and his two boys needed to eat…
He said:
"What I can remember, it must have been an hour after I've found it, that it's time for the kids' lunch.
"They needed their lunch. So I took the children's chairs to the table, took the yoghurts out of the fridge, the bananas…
"After that we drove [to the London house]. Escorted by the police."
?
Fast-forward to the present, and despite all the hardship, Thomas says he hasn’t allowed his grief to ’transfer’ onto his children, and that he, Astala and Phaedra are all doing really well.
"The routine I had to keep up with the children helped me a lot," he admitted.
"They are miraculously having happy childhoods, which hopefully leads to happy fruitful lives.”
