Tough guy Tom Hardy has revealed that a swift kick from his son in a delicate area left him in “excruciating agony.”

Speaking to Esquire magazine, the British actor described the incident, saying, “I managed to survive my whole life without getting kicked in the testicles. And then one day I was changing the nappy of my son. I put him on his back and he was moving his feet about. I was like ‘come on’, and he brought his heels down – and clipped the top of my left testicle. It took me to the f***ing floor man.”

Despite the fact that his acting work often involves full-on fight sequences, Hardy has admitted he was floored by the unpleasant debacle, which took place when his four year old son, Louis, was still an infant.

Recalling ruefully, he said, “I didn’t see it coming. And I took it straight on. I thought ‘Jesus, that’s what its like to be kicked in the balls.’ Excruciating agony. And my son is only a foot-and-a-half long.”

So there we have it – proof that even the hardiest of hardmen have a sensitive spot somewhere, and it's usually related to their children!
