Tyra Banks has become a mum. The former supermodel and her Norwegian photographer boyfriend Erik Asla now have a baby boy via gestational surrogate.

"We are so excited for our new baby boy bundle of joy. The journey to now has not been an easy process, as I’ve shared before. But there was a beautiful bright light at the end of the tunnel for me and his father, Erik," she told People.

The fashion couple have chosen a standout place name for their son… York Banks Asla. We assume that he's named after New York rather than the cathedral town in northeast England.

Tyra previously opened up about her "traumatic" IVF struggle. The 41-year-old revealed she's had several failed rounds of fertility treatment and some "not happy moments" as she tried to conceive a child.

"When I turned 40, the one thing I was not happy about is that I did not have kids," she said. "I'm like, 'Damn, the clock is ticking!'"

And now she's taken the announcement of her son's birth as an opportunity to send best wishes to other women who are still TTC (trying to conceive).

"As I gaze into the beautiful eyes of my son, I think about all the people who struggle with fertility or carrying a child and continue to pray for them every day.

My hopes and dreams are filled with well wishes that they get to feel what my little treasure, York Banks Asla, feels like in my arms," she said.

But Tyra previously said that doesn't "just want one child" so there could be more on the cards. "I want a litter! And I want to be the kind of mom where my child can come to me for anything."
