Woman discovers she's 8 months pregnant when boyfriend feels baby kick at gig
Abby Wake had no idea she was 32 weeks pregnant
A woman had no idea she was 8-months pregnant – that was until her boyfriend felt the baby kick when they were at a concert. Abby Wake, from North Hollywood in California, thought she was just a bit bloated – she has a lactose intolerance that can bring this on – and she dismissed the baby's movements as gas. "'Cause it wasn’t distinct," she said. "There weren’t like kicks and huge movements. It was just like gurgles."
The California resident also told CBS in Los Angeles that she didn't experience any pregnancy symptoms and wasn't alarmed by her missing period as she's often irregular.
It was eventually her boyfriend Jarryd Gorman that suspected she might be pregnant when he put his hand on Abby's tum at a concert. "I felt the baby kick and I looked at her and said, 'I think you’re definitely pregnant,'" he said. "We need to go see someone straight away."
"And he was just like, '32 weeks,'" Abby said, recounting her visit to the doctor. "He was just doing the measurements. And we were like, 'I’m sorry?'"
But Doctor Payman Joseph was less than surprised. "It is more common than most people think," he said. "She’s very thin compared to a lot of the other women that I’ve seen this in."
The couple are now building a nursery for their baby boy and using a GoFundMe page to raise money for a "virtual baby shower."
"You haven't met me yet but my name is Isaiah and my mommy didn't know about it me until last week! No Kidding!" the fundraising page reads. "I have been hiding in mommy's tummy for the last 8 months."
