Woman shares bittersweet miscarriage tribute tattoo in touching post
“I got this to remember the baby that wasn’t meant to be…”
Well, if this isn’t the most bittersweet thing we’ve seen all week we don't know what is.
A woman’s Imgur post of the tattoo she got shortly after her miscarriage has gone viral – and for good reason.
The tattoo, posted by sweatermaster, is an outline of the female body, with a pregnancy bump, a representation of the miscarried baby and two bright red love hearts for both mum and baby.
Beneath it, she wrote:
“I had a miscarriage two weeks ago… and I got this to remember the baby that wasn’t meant to be.”
The photo’s been viewed more than 35,000 times and has inspired so many supportive comments.
One user commented: “What an exquisitely beautiful tattoo. I'm sorry for your loss, I'm sorry for all parents who go through this. My heart is with you.”
“My wife and I have lost four babies to three miscarriages. It's rough. It stays with you. Nothing will ever make it "okay" but you move on,” another offered.
“I lost my first pregnancy last October. It's the hardest thing I've ever been through. I'm now 20 weeks pregnant. You can heal. Love your tat.”
And the post even inspired the most ardent tattoo-haters to appreciate the tribute body art:
“You will probably be the only time I will upvote anything related to tattoos, losing a little one, even unborn, is heartbreaking.”
This really is such a lovely way to memorialise the pregnancy ❤️
Miscarriage is sadly quite common, and it's simply not talked about enough.
So we really do hope that miscarriage tattoos and tributes like these give more people the chance to share their stories, ask questions and speak openly about it.
Don’t forget - you can always share your story with us on Facebook or on the MFM forum
