Zara Tindall picks a regal baby name (with an unusual twist)
The Queen's granddaughter recently gave birth to her 2nd daughter...
It's official! The newest member of the royal family is named Lena Elizabeth Tindall ???
New mum Zara Tindall and husband Mike also revealed that there was no special reason they chose the 1st name; rather it simply tickled their fancy!
"The name is Lena Elizabeth. It was just a name they liked," said a spokesperson for the couple.
A lovely choice, we'd say, especially since Lena is thought to be a shortened form of Elena and Helena, Greek names which share the meaning 'light and shine' ?
However, there's an obvious royal connection with the middle name: Queen Elizabeth II, Zara's grandma.
The name announcement comes 2 weeks after 37-year-old Zara gave birth, as Buckingham Palace confirmed:
"Mrs Michael Tindall was safely delivered of a baby girl on 18th June, at Stroud Maternity Unit. Mr Tindall was present at the birth. The weight of the baby was 9lbs 3oz," the statement said.
And little Lena joins 4-year-old sister Mia Grace Tindall, who has a similarly pretty name ?
