Should I be worried about spots on my vagina?
I'm 27 weeks pregnant and for the last three to four weeks, have had some small spots on the outer lips of my vagina, which look like blood blisters. What are they, and should I be worried?
Dr Rob:
These spots sound like they could be angiokeratomas, which are harmless red or purplish raised spots formed of tiny dilated blood vessels, but it's important that you see your GP to check and confirm this.
There doesn't seem to be a reason why they occur, but some doctors believe the blood vessel dilation that happens during pregnancy makes them more likely. If they are angiokeratomas, they don't need any treatment, but they may bleed if scratched accidentally and may become infected if picked.
