10 essentials for keeping tiny teeth healthy
Brush, clean and rinse your child's teeth to keep them gleaming with our great selection of dental goodies
Great dental care essentials for your tots' teeth
As soon as your baby’s first tooth appears, you can start cleaning them to ensure they get the earliest start on dental care.
Milk teeth start to make an appearance after six months, with most children having around 20 teeth by the age of two to three.
Although milk teeth do eventually fall out by age 12, it’s important to treat them with care as they are vital for eating, speech development and of course, giving your baby a bobby dazzler smile!
Once your child gets their ‘big’ teeth, regular trips to the dentist, brushing twice a day and eating a low sugar diet are keys to keeping tots teeth healthy and decay-free.
Use a pea-sized blob of toothpaste and ensure that it has low fluoride levels to protect little teeth. Children aged up to three years should use toothpaste that contains 1,000ppm fluoride. Tots who are aged four plus should use toothpaste that contains between 1,350 and 1,500ppm fluoride.
When brushing your baby’s teeth, if the brush seems too big, wrap some clean muslin around your finger and gently rub. Electronic toothbrushes are believed to be 25% more effective, and are safe to use on tots – just teach them to brush in a circular motion.
