Keeping cool during pregnancy is a challenge, especially when it's hot outside. So, we've rounded up some of the best portable and home fans available to buy. There's even a fan to plug into your iPhone...
You don’t have to be pregnant during this heatwave to feel sticky and uncomfortable – but it certainly helps ??
Swollen feet and ankles, as well as hormone-induced night sweats, are likely to happen in pregnancy regardless – and you may also find that expecting leaves you feeling more sensitive to the sun. Perfect timing ?
We have some tips for keeping cool during pregnancy – but as the temperature soars and summer shows no signs of slowing down, you might want to think about investing in a handheld or household fan to ease your daily discomfort. For more fans, take a look at our test of the best tower fans.
Check out our pick of the best fans…
1. Fone Case Portable Smartphone Cooling Ventilator, £3.99
This sounds fancier than it is. Essentially, it’s a small fan you plug in to the bottom of your iPhone (where your charger goes) and that operates off your phone’s battery power.
There are tons of colours to pick from and likely, lots of other makes, available on Amazon too. Ideal if you’re expecting and still commuting to and from work, and handy to have in your bag while you’re out and about.
Available from: Amazon
2. Witmoving Portable Electric Rechargeable Fan, £19.99
A lightweight, portable fan. It’s not small small, so it’ll take up a little bit of room in your bag. Still, it comes highly-rated and does the job: providing big blasts of cool air. It’s also not too noisy!
It comes with a rechargeable battery, a USB charging cable and instructions.
Available from: Amazon
3. D FantiX Handheld Portable Fan, £17.99
This portable fan doesn’t just fan you, you can also make it spray a cooling mist. The fan itself can still be used alone, and it comes touted as pretty strong, and not too noisy.
You do however, have to get your face pretty close to the device to feel the misting benefits. It’s rechargeable, too.
Available from: Amazon
4. Challenge Black Pedestal Fan - 16 Inch, £34.99
One of Argos’ top-rated pedestal fans, we like that this one has multiple functions, a sleep mode that doesn’t continuously blast air (and is generally touted to be quiet enough) and is a stylish black – rather than a garish white.
Ideal for the house: perhaps the living room, kitchen or even your bedroom.
Available from: Argos
5. Dyson AM07 Tower Fan White/Silver, £339
Generally, the consensus on this fan is that it does the trick, is efficient, and is quiet (well, as quiet as big house fans can be) – especially on a low setting.
It's also extremely stylish, and doesn't have rotating fans that small children could potentially stick their fingers in.
However, it is remarkably expensive, so only suitable if you think you’ll have use for it post-pregnancy, or you have the cash spare!
We've also tested out 5 of the best tower fans on the market for a range of budgets to see which ones work best for families.
