What makes the Aquasolari Bed Pad different from the mattress protectors I have previously tested is its ‘wings’. Yes, like certain feminine hygiene products, this pad has two ‘wings’ that tuck under the mattress on a single bed, holding it in place.
What we love
The whole thing just screams quality. The Aquasolari Bed Pad feels strong and durable - and indeed the pad had been wash tested at 92 degrees by Intertek Group PLC in one of their testing facilities. I didn’t go to those lengths, but I did wash it on a hot wash. It can be tumble dried, but it was virtually dry when it came out of the washing machine, so I just hung it out to dry for half an hour.
The Aquasolari Bed Pad came out looking and feeling like new. Its top cover still soft, and no crinkling, or shrinking that I could see.
Aquasolari claims its absorbent layer can hold up to 2 litres, so I tested it (with water!). And yes, it held a full 2 litres without any leaks. So far so good.
In the practical test, on the bed of a none-too reliable 3-year-old, the Aquasolari Bed Pad held its own, and remained reasonably dry even after a little night-time accident. I even used it the wrong way round on a cot bed with a fidgety sleeper and, because of the wings, it didn’t move even then.
The Aquasolari Bed Pad is also pretty efficient at absorbing any odours.
In its single bed size, the Aquasolari Bed Pad is as useful for toddlers as it is for mums-to-be who are worried about their waters breaking and older children going off on sleepovers. It can be placed under a sheet for complete discretion, and has no rustling plastic to give the game away.
What to watch out for
The only shame about the Aquasolari Bed Pad is that they don’t do a double bed sized one for mums. Oh, and as with similar products, remember not to use fabric softeners or bleach when washing as it will affect the absorbent layer.
Who is the Aquasolari Bed Pad best for?
Anyone who needs discreet protection in a single bed.
The quality feel of the Aquasolari Bed Pad is backed up by its super absorbency and its innovative ‘wings’, which help keep it in place. Its quality means it should last long enough for more than one toilet training toddler to use it, making it well worth its £29.99 price tag.
