The Aspace Tribeca Cot definitely wins top marks at the style awards and although it doesn’t have a drop-side, this is an incredibly sturdy and well-made cot.
Well established in the world of furniture, Aspace have introduced a fantastic range of nursery furniture including the very stylish Tribeca cot. Assembly is included with the free delivery, so there is no need to worry yourself with construction. This is lucky because the instructions aren’t very clear and even miss out the final step of slotting the mattress base in place. The bolt holes were also awkward to line up and it definitely needs two pairs of hands.
The white cot bars complement high shine beech wood ends to make an incredibly sleek cot that would look just at home in a minimalist bachelor apartment as in a nursery. But it’s the unique and very funky metal feet that really set the Tribeca apart from other cots on the market.
What we love
Once together, this is an incredibly sturdy cot and which conforms to BSEN716 safety standards. The mattress base has two height positions which are easy to adjust and the highest mattress position is at an incredibly convenient height, allowing you to scoop your baby up with only the slightest bend of the knees.
A secure and comfortable environment for your baby until she reaches two years old, this cot may at first seem expensive but you really do pay for the quality and once you’ve fallen for the cot, it will be hard to resist the coordinating nursery dresser, £595. With contemporary styling, it won’t go out of fashion if you plan to use it again in the future and it will undoubtedly last for many generations.
Aspace offer a selection of high quality mattresses, including a choice of natural fibre fillings. This cot will also win you environmental brownie points, the ends made from a fast growing environmentally-friendly timber called Lignia and the sides, a sustainable beech wood.
What to watch out for
It’s hard to say anything negative about this cot - just don’t break your back moving the Aspace around your nursery and definitely don’t drop one of the weighty metal feet on your toes! It does weigh a tonne so make sure it gets assembled pretty much exactly where you plan to use it. You may also find that your cot suffers from little teeth marks on the sides, which don’t feature teething protector rails. It also lacks a drop-down side and for the price you might hope the standard 120x60cm mattress would be included.
Who is the Aspace best for?
Mums who want the best of style and practicality for their baby’s cot.
With assembly included this sturdy cot may lack a drop-side but the overall design completely makes up for this.
