If you're carrying your baby in warmer weather or on a long walk, the unique, breathable 3D mesh helps reduce heat and moisture. Your baby stays safe as the soft and supple mesh gently shapes itself to her body, giving excellent support for her back and guaranteeing that her arms and legs are in the correct position.
It has a firm head support that's easy to adjust, and when your baby's older you can fold it down to carry her facing forward. Wide, padded shoulder pads distribute weight evenly over your back and shoulders. And like all Baby Bjorn carriers, it's easy to put on and take off, with a sliding buckle, which makes it easy to adjust for your rapidly growing baby.
What we love
The Baby Bjorn Air looks great - the design is sleek, modern and fashionable. And it seems to go with whatever you're wearing. That's the shallow stuff over with - the important thing is it feels safe and gets your baby off to sleep.
Baby Mimi would like to give the Baby Bjorn Air five stars for everything. She absolutely loves travelling in it. Just one look at it sends her legs kicking in excitement. She's been using it since she was 3 weeks old, as she seemed a bit 'lost' in it before then.
Not only is it great for going out and about, but it's ideal to wear around the house too. When Mimi spent her evenings crying with colic in the first three months, we'd strap her in the Baby Bjorn Air and dance around the living room and it really did soothe her.
The other great thing about the Baby Bjorn Air is that your baby can easily fall asleep in it and you don't have to worry about her head flopping all over the place as there's ample support. And you don't have to disturb her by waking her up to get her out of the carrier - the front just unlatches easily and folds down.
Now Mimi's a bit older, she loves the forward facing position as she's interested in what's going on around her. From the smile on her face, it seems equally comfortable. Mimi’s dad loves it too, as the design's quite masculine and he finds it light and well supported. Because of the breathable mesh, neither your baby nor carrier gets hot, even in sunny weather.
What to watch out for
If you're not too well built, your baby can start to put a strain on your back long before she reaches the maximum weight for the Baby Bjorn Air. Once Mimi hit about 14lbs, I found it hard to wear the carrier on long walks and even longer shopping trips as I'm quite petite. But her dad still finds the weight bearable. So if you're smaller, it might be worth looking at the Baby Bjorn Active or Synergy as they offer more back support.
Who is the Baby Bjorn Carrier Air best for?
Mums and dads who want to be close to their baby without getting all hot and bothered.
A top of the range carrier, the Baby Bjorn Air is ideal if you're well built, but you might want to try other Baby Bjorn styles if you're slight with a growing baby. The unique breathable mesh helps keep the heat down, it's easy to put on and take off, and the straps are wide and comfy.
