Like most things Scandinavian, it’s stylish, thoughtful and understated, making it dad-friendly and grandparent-proof. Made from 95% organically grown cotton and 5% polyester, the Comfort Carrier is super soft and moulds around your baby’s body. Every part of the carrier is guaranteed harmless to children’s skin and is anti-allergenic.
Designed alongside paediatricians, parents and children, there are two carrying positions - facing forward or parent facing. The key to the design is the adjustable waistband, which distributes your baby’s weight onto your hips, therefore removing any strain on your back. You put it on by lifting the carrier over your head, like a bib.
Like its sister carrier, the Baby Bjorn Active Carrier, your baby’s head is supported by a thick, padded head and neck support that attaches to the main body of the carrier by a quick-release button on either side of your baby’s head.
What we love
I love my Baby Bjorn Active Carrier, so when this new model, the Comfort Carrier, landed on my doorstep I was thrilled. Many a supermarket trip has been rescued by getting Minnie, now 9 months, out of the buggy and into the carrier.
Minnie is light (7.5kg at 9 months), so until recently I haven’t had any back issues carrying her. The last trip into town, however, did leave me with sore shoulders and an aching back. The Comfort Carrier has solved this problem by transferring the weight around the hips; on a Christmas Day walk along the beach Minnie spent nearly two hours pinned to my front admiring the view.
The lack of buckles (just one around the waist and two for the shoulder adjustments) make this a breeze to put on and, unlike other carriers where it takes ages to get the fit right, it is easy to adjust. So, it can be shared without too much faff.
Made from organic cotton, the carrier is very soft and the colour scheme is pared down and sophisticated – there is a choice of Anthracite or Scarlet.
What to watch out for
The only fault I can find with the Baby Bjorn Comfort Carrier is that to put your baby in, you have to lift them up above your head and wiggle their legs into place, which sounds harder than it is. It’s fine when your little one is small but at 2 years of age they’re likely to be a bit hefty. So, you might need to start going to the gym. Oh, and if you’re precious about your hair, putting it on over your head might give you stress.
Who is the Baby Bjorn Comfort Carrier best for?
Parents who value the closeness and freedom a carrier brings and who don’t mind paying for superior comfort.
The Baby Bjorn Comfort Carrier is a stylish and sturdy carrier that provides exceptional comfort for you and your baby. It’s a pricey but outstanding product that will last – and be comfortable to use - until your baby is well into their toddler years.
