The Grand Style Plus Combination Pram starts life as a pram, with the Maxibob carrycot, and can then be used as a rear or forward facing buggy. The buggy seat has a 4-position recline, one of which is lie-flat, so you can also use the buggy from birth as well. Bebecar says its carrycots are suitable for overnight sleeping, though you will need an optional safety mattress if you plan to use it for this purpose.
The Grand Style Plus Combination Pram features the 10.5kg traditional fixed-wheel “X” chrome chassis, and has sprung suspension and large spoked wheels. It gives a smooth, comfy ride even on bumpy cobbled streets.
The Grand Style Plus is travel system compatible, with the Bebecar Easy Maxi car seat easily fitting onto chassis. You can read more about this travel system package in our Bebecar Grand Style Plus Combination Pram travel system review.
What we love
I live within walking distance of a market town and the car is often left behind in favour of a daily walk to pick up the essentials. This has become part of my son Kasper’s routine and the sturdy, secure Bebecar Grand Style Plus Combination Pram is ideal for this.
Firstly, the Bebecar Grand Style Plus Combination Pram can carry several bags of shopping, and the large basket at the bottom is wide and easy to reach. Secondly, whether being used as a buggy or as a pram with the carrycot attached, Kasper is always positioned at a good height. The Grand Style Plus is much more elevated than many others around, so I can talk to Kasper and he can see the world.
Kasper, a winter baby, was always warm and cosy in the carrycot. It boasts a windproof hood, thick mattress and substantial apron. Now he’s older, he’s equally happy in the well-padded reversible seat.
I also love the adjustable handle height. It can be quickly changed to suit whoever’s pushing Kasper, however tall they are.
A roomy changing bag was included with the set, which attaches neatly to the handles, and we use it every day.
What to watch out for
Although it’s very simple fit the carrycot and buggy seat onto the chassis and to fold it, the Bebecar Grand Style Plus is bulky, heavy and not easy to transport. To fit the chassis in the car boot, we have to take the wheels off, which means more work when we arrive at our destination. We’ve ended up purchasing smaller, collapsible buggies to leave with Kasper’s grandparents.
The Bebecar Grand Style Plus Combination Pram’s large size and fixed wheels make it ideal for pavements, but it would struggle on country lanes and may prove difficult in the park if there’s no path.
The slightly weighty manoeuvrability means I don’t take it into shops that are tight on space or that have steep steps or small entrances.
A raincover has to be purchased separately, which is disappointing given the price tag of the Grand Style Plus. We also purchased the matching parasol but this offered little shade and went in the bin after it snapped on its second outing.
Who is the Bebecar Grand Style Plus Combination Pram best for?
Lovers of the traditional look who don’t often need to throw their buggy in the car boot.
The Bebecar Grand Style Plus is ideal for parents who like to leave the car at home and take a walk to the local shops or cafes. Its sturdy frame, spoked wheels and bulky matching carrycot make for a classic eye-catching look. However, the weight, size and fixed wheels mean it’s not for parents seeking a nippy, compact option.
