The Bloom Luxo Sleep Baby Bed is a no-tools required product that’s a cinch to assemble. The large wooden slats allow maximum airflow across the cot. These, teamed with rounded ends that cocoon your baby, create a sleek look that wouldn’t be out of place in NYC loft apartment.
Available with either drop or fixed sides, the wooden frame is a combination of beech and birch veneers and solid birch. Sourced from certified sustainable wood forests the Luxo Sleep is free from toxic wood preservatives.
Available in pure coconut white or cappuccino (white and brown) the matching nursery furniture and top change table will be hard to resist.
A mattress is not included; but you can choose from the Coco Mat Mattress (manufactured from 80% coconut coir, sourced from the only organic plantation in the world) for £180 or the Body Fit spring mattress, £90. A toddler rail is also available at extra cost.
What we love
One of the best things about the Bloom Luxo Sleep Baby Bed, aside from its good looks, is the ‘no-tools required rapid assembly’. It’s a world away from flat pack furniture.
The drop down sides are easy to use and glide smoothly over the guides, although some bending is still required to lift your baby out of the cot.
The wooden veneer is easy to wipe clean and the folding frame is a brilliant idea if you are short on space in the nursery or between babies.
The Coco Mat Mattress will transport your baby into a world of pure, indulgent, luxury.
What to watch out for
Whilst this is an incredibly sturdy, high-end bit of kit, it’s hard to justify the exorbitant price tag (£650). Add a mattress and you are into the realms of the gold card.
What’s more, at 135cm x 70cm the mattress is not standard size, so you’ll need to fork out another £40 for two fitted sheets. I tried and failed to stretch Minnie’s standard size sheets over the mattress.
And whilst the Luxo Sleep looks fabulous, the model I tested already had a chip in it, which led me to wonder how long it would remain perfect when in the company of a toddler, especially one that likes to gnaw on the bars.
One last niggle is that the adjustable side version only has one mattress height so your newborn may seem a long way down.
Who is the Bloom Luxo Sleep Baby Bed best for?
Design-conscious parents who value style over value for money
The Bloom Luxo Sleep Baby Bed is a thoughtfully designed cotbed that delivers on style and sturdiness. However, this is one piece of nursery furniture that’s out of the price range of most new parents, especially once a mattress and bedding is added to the bill.
