Assembling the highchair from its box is easy, even for DIY dunces like me: just slot the bar that forms the backrest into place on the frame and zip the seat cover around; to use it with the tray, you’ll need to add the safety bar, which also clips neatly into place, and folds forwards to keep the seat nice and flat when collapsed.
What we love
The curvaceous, minimalist look of this highchair gives it an air of elegance that’s highly unusual in a piece of nursery equipment, and it comes in a great choice of colours that will match any modern kitchen or dining room. But the nano urban highchair’s appeal is about so much more than just its looks – it really does its job. The seat pad can be removed for hand washing, but it also wipes clean so you won’t need to do this all the time.
The tray has three positions, so it’s easy to get a wriggly baby in and out, and it can be removed completely and cleaned in the dishwasher – just what you need after a really messy mealtime!
When folded it locks shut and goes almost completely flat, so can be stowed away easily when not in use. When open, its footprint is not so big that you’ll trip over the legs, but it seems very stable.
The footrest is adjustable to accommodate your growing child, and if you want your little one to join you at the table for family meals, you can remove the safety bar and tray. The 5-point harness will keep your baby safely in place and as the straps are well padded, he’ll be comfortable, too. There are two height positions for the shoulder straps so it will grow with your child.
What to watch out for
Apart from the tray, the footrest and the shoulder straps, there’s no adjustability in the Bloom nano urban highchair: it won’t recline should your baby fall asleep, and it only offers one seat height, so it may be worth checking that this is right for your dining table before you invest. It’s not freestanding when folded, so you’ll have to find an empty wall to lean it on. It looks great with or without the tray, but with just the safety bar in place, the sleek appearance is spoilt.
While far from being the worst in terms of cleaning, the seams of the seat pad could prove to be a haven for stray bits of food, but thank goodness it’s washable.
Who is the Bloom nano urban highchair best for?
Space-constrained mums looking for a stylish option
If you’re seeking a highchair that performs well and looks great, the Bloom nano urban highchair is a good choice. It’s a great choice for anyone who is short on space and while not bargain-basement cheap, it’s not eye-wateringly expensive either. However, if you’re looking for lots of adjustability, you’ll need to look elsewhere.
