If you're concerned about the environment or just looking to cut costs, Boots Washable Breast Pads may be a viable alternative to disposable pads.
There are few things more embarrassing and annoying than breast milk leaking through your clothing and so, if you're breastfeeding, breast pads are a must. But you can get through loads and throwing them away is a waste of both money and resources.
Boots Washable Breast Pads are, unsurprisingly, machine washable (they come with a net bag to stop them getting lost in the machine) and reusable. They can be washed at least 50 times at low temperature (40 degrees) making them an excellent environmentally-friendly alternative.
Boots claim they absorb twice as much as disposable breast pads and I certainly found them to be absorbent, plus they don't swell up with milk like many disposables. They also feature an anti-leak system as well as an anti-microbial inner layer to prevent bacterial growth.
What we love
Unlike most disposables, they are shaped and contoured to the breast, which gives them a better fit than many pads and ensures that they don't show through clothes.
What to watch out for
I have large breasts (even larger when feeding) and, even though the pads are shaped, I found they needed quite a lot of repositioning.
An excellent, environmentally-friendly alternative to disposables, but it would be good if they came in a variety of sizes.
