A light car seat that can be installed with a 2-point lap belt, though but it does feel a bit flimsy
The Prince, from Britax, is straightforward car seat that'd be best for those with older cars and larger families.
The Britax Prince car seat is a Group 1 car set, suitable from 9kg to 18kg, which is roughly 9 months to 4 years. It can be fitted in your car with either the car’s 3-point seatbelt or 2-point lap belt.
In terms of features, the Prince has a 3-position recline, a base with a slim design that can fit better in sculptured seats, and a 5-point harness with chest pads.
What we love
The Britax Prince is very lightweight at 6kg and easy to install, which makes it perfect for transferring from one car to another. It comes with easy to read and understand instructions, and the Britax website is an excellent resource, too.
The harness is well-padded and easily adjustable, which makes it extremely convenient for quick moves with children and/or vehicles.
The fabric of the Britax Prince car seat is nicely soft and keeps your child quite cool.
It’s not common for car seats to be able to be installed with a car’s 2-point lap belt. Most require ISOFIX or a 3-point seatbelt. I imagine this feature will appeal to those with more than one child and an (older) car that only has a 2-point belt in the middle of the back seat.
What to watch out for
The Britax Prince seems a bit flimsy in its construction. It also seems a bit too lightweight, which doesn’t inspire total confidence.
I had difficulty installing the Britax Prince to its proper tightness. It did take a great deal of force to push on the car seat and secure the belt.
The car seat sits down quite low in the seat of the car, so your child may not have the best view.
Who is the Britax Prince car seat best for?
Families looking for a spare car seat for a second vehicle.
The Britax Prince car seat is a lightweight car seat that would be functional and convenient for most vehicles, but would be best suited as a spare car seat for most families.
