Cake Lingerie MyBust Turkish Delight maternity and nursing balcony bra review

The Turkish Delight range is available in Plunge and Balcony styles. Plunge is for smaller cup sizes, catering for B-D cups. Balcony, the style I tested, is for larger busts, catering for cup sizes DD-FF and available in sizes 32-38.

The bra incorporates Cake’s 'MyBust' concept, which means that depending on your cup size, the support mechanism is different. This is especially important for those with a larger bust who still want a flattering profile, and who don't want to wear their boobs round their middle!

What we love

As a breastfeeding mum I have never felt so attractive – my boobs were lifted enough to provide a very flattering profile. My breastfeeding friend Susannah was openly jealous of my glamorous bra, and my husband was also, erm, appreciative of the flattering fit of my new bra.

The Cake Lingerie MyBust Turkish Delight maternity and nursing balcony bra has narrow (but still comfortable) straps and a low-cut plunge, so it’s suitable under v-necked tops.

I was slightly concerned when I first saw the design was underwired, however the wire is very flexible and soft. The bra has also been approved by the Breastfeeding Association.

The bra is layered with stretch lace and adorned with rosettes and bows, which I expected to be uncomfortable. But it's extremely comfortable because the cups and straps are cotton lined, so nothing chafes or irritates.

The back is adjustable to six different widths. This is brilliant for those buying the bra to wear from pregnancy to post-birth, and with any luck this one bra could even see a mum-to-be through her entire pregnancy. I’ve been feeding my baby Ted for four months, and the bra also coped with the daily size changes I experience in my bust before and after each feed.

What to watch out for

Feeding is slightly fiddly as the drop down clips are quite tight. However, in reality this is a benefit as over time I’ve found that on other bras, the clips become increasingly loose (which has meant unfortunate explosions of bosom at inappropriate times).

It’s also quite difficult to squeeze breast pads back in discreetly after a feed, but again, this does mean that the pads stay in place, unlike other bras I have worn.

The Cake Lingerie MyBust Turkish Delight maternity and nursing balcony bra is hand wash only in cold water, though most stylish bras are like this, even though many of us just end up bunging them in the machine.

Finally, because the bra is light purple I found that milk stains were visible on the outside of the bra.
