A safety gate is vital to any family who has a flight of stairs and a little explorer. The Chicco Nightlight Safety Gate’s nifty extra is that its button glows in the dark, to help adults negotiate it when moving around at night. However, it’s certainly not of “nightlight” brightness.
Chicco is a nursery brand that started in Italy and is now in about 120 countries worldwide. In addition to a variety of baby products, such as buggies, highchairs, feeding equipment and toys, Chicco has a line of home safety products. One of these is the Chicco Nightlight Safety Gate.
We’ve used a variety of safety gates in our home both on the stairs and to keep our highly curious Ella safe and secure in one room. The Chicco Nightlight Safety Gate is a very sturdy and secure gate, which gives me reassurance that my daughter will be safe around stairs and in other spaces.
What we love
The Chicco Nightlight Safety Gate is adjustable to fit doors from 75cm to 82cm and you can purchase extensions to fit openings up to 118cm. This allows you to be flexible with the safety gate and utilise it in a variety of rooms and locations.
The pressure pads allow you to install the gate safely and quickly with minimum fuss. In addition to these, the Chicco Nightlight Safety Gate also comes with screw fixings to attach the gate directly to the wall for additional safety and security.
The white finish on the safety gate allows it to blend well with most décor and still look good while being noticeable at the same time.
There’s a luminescent button feature on the Chicco Nightlight Safety Gate, which can aid adults in being able to see the gate in the dark.
The gate’s self-closing feature is very helpful when your hands are full and you don’t have the time to shut the gate behind you (or are prone to forgetting!).
What to watch out for
The Chicco Nightlight Safety Gate boasts of having a nightlight. I was expecting that the luminescent buttons would actually light up but they simply glow. The glowing is not exceptionally noticeable and fades throughout the night. The label of “nightlight” is a bit misleading, as it’s really more of a night “glow”.
Although gate is self-closing, the Chicco Nightlight Safety Gate doesn’t seem to shut faster or slower through turning the adjustment dial.
