The teat flexes and extends to twice its length during sucking like a real nipple and ribbed rings around the edge of the teat give it an elasticity and texture as similar to a nipple as possible. The base of the teat is large to ensure maximum support for your baby and to make latching on as easy as possible. The teat also includes an anti-colic valve to avoid your baby swallowing air and reduce colic, hiccups and regurgitation.
The Chicco Wellbeing Feeding Bottle is made from BPA-free plastic, and comes in two sizes - a 150ml bottle, which costs £3.49, and a 250ml bottle, for £3.99.
What we love
My 8-month-old Joe has been guzzling his way through four or five bottles a day since we introduced formula at 4 weeks and Chicco Wellbeing Feeding Bottle seemed to gain his approval.
After trying lots of different bottles to begin with, Joe has become used to his Tommee Tippee bottles, and I was concerned that he may have reservations about a new bottle at this stage. I needn’t have worried as Joe latched on to the teat, which is longer and narrower than his usual one, without a backward glance. If anything, he seemed to drink faster than with his usual bottles. The teat seems really natural, so is a good option for mums who are still combining bottle- and breastfeeding or who are introducing their baby to the bottle for the first time.
Joe has a tendency for hiccups and is sometimes a bit sick after feeding. The anti-colic valves in the teat seemed to help with that as he didn’t have any problems with either while we were testing this bottle.
It was quick and easy to clean, sterilise and assemble. The bottle is pleasant to hold with the indents in the side providing a good grip.
What to watch out for
The Chicco Wellbeing Feeding Bottle is long and thin compared to my usual squat bottles and although it still fitted in our usual microwave steriliser I couldn’t fit it in my conventional bottle bag nor get it in the back of the fridge without tilting it against the side. It didn’t fit in my bottle warmer as snugly as I’d like either and had to be held upright.
The measurements on the side of the bottle are in a pale yellow and I’d be concerned that after sustained use over several weeks they could start to fade.
I also found the cartoon design on the bottle a bit tacky.
Who is the Chicco Wellbeing Feeding Bottle best for?
Mums combining bottlefeeding and breastfeeding.
The Chicco Wellbeing Feeding Bottle is great for minimising hiccups and regurgitation, and the natural teat will be a big plus for mums thinking of combined feeding. However, check that the size you get fits your fridge and with your other feeding accessories first.
