Suitable for use from 3.5kg to 9kg, baby Nathaniel is the perfect size for the rear-facing position, but the carrier converts to a front-facing design when your baby is a little older.
What we love
As soon as I took the Clippasafe Carramio Baby Carrier out of the packaging I could see that the carrier's soft fabric and wide back strap supports were far superior to the model I already owned. The Oatmeal colouring is very chic and stylish, but does come in Black if you want a more user-friendly colour for your partner (although my husband was perfectly happy to wear the carrier in the taupe shade).
Slipping the carrier over my head, I found the straps and lumbar support very easy to attach with the click-fit fastenings and they were easily adjustable when my husband insisted it was his turn.
With Nathaniel seated in position, I could quickly alter the leg widths with the Velcro pads so he was securely held in place and clip the holders around the sides of his head. This is a great selling point as all too often manufacturers forget that carriers are used throughout several seasons and room for layers of clothes is essential.
The removable bib was at the perfect height to be useful, as so many are positioned too low to offer adequate protection for your clothes. Additional bibs can be purchased for £2.99 for two.
Within a couple of minutes of walking, Nathaniel quickly fell asleep and I felt very comfortable and secure letting my hands and arms fall by my side. Even once we were back home I wandered around with him still attached to me, as I found I could easily perform simple tasks, such as checking emails or preparing a snack as he slept on.
What to watch out for
I thought the armholes were positioned slightly too low and so the shoulder pieces ended up going across Nathaniel's arms.
After using the Clippasafe Carramio Baby Carrier every day for a week, I found the light-coloured fabric was looking a little grubby, but as the product is machine washable at 40 degrees, this isn't really a problem.
I also found when walking up stairs that Nathaniel's legs hindered my progress and I had to take extra care that my movements didn't wake him up.
Lastly, the distribution of your baby's weight isn't as even as it would be with some slings, so after carrying Nathaniel around sightseeing for a morning my back did ache slightly.
Who is the Clippasafe Carramio Baby Carrier best for?
Budget-conscious new parents after a hand-free option they can both wear.
The Clippasafe Carramio Baby Carrier is a great budget buy, and its user-friendly design grows with your child. The straps and lumbar support are easy to attach and to adjust, which means both you and your partner can use the carrier comfortably.
