THE MAKE AND MODEL OF YOUR CAR(S) THAT IT WAS TESTED IN:
Audi A2 Estate family car which has inbuilt Isofix fittings. However, you can retract them so that it will slot into older cars without the fittings too.
PRODUCT REVIEW:
Available in black with grey or beige, my four-year-old daughter Florence gave the black and red version a whirl, which looks most racy and dynamic. The design is fully ergonomic and is labelled an ‘enclosed shell design’, which offers brilliant support from top to bottom as well as complete side impact protection with three cushioned layers.
What I loved
It’s easy for my daughter Florence to climb in herself and the comfort factor is high, which means my toddler sleeps pretty well in it without too much head bobbing forward action. Far better than a basic booster, the entire seat adjusted to fit Florence precisely and can be lengthened as she grows. To do this, it uses what’s called a ‘button-operated Variosize system’ which ‘adjusts both the height of the headrest and the height and width of the shoulder protectors within 20 progressive stages’. It’s so easy to use and it’s appears really sturdy, so I’ve high hopes that it will last until Florence’s early teens. Not sure how clean it will be by then though!
What to watch out for
Even though my 4-year-old is boosted fairly high in her seat, she can actually reach to undo the belt and she mastered this trick a bit too quickly. Fortunately, at this age, it is easy to negotiate and discuss the dangers of unclipping the belt when in motion, and once Florence was over the novelty factor of her new in-car independence, it was no longer a temptation. Also, according to some of the other mums who have purchased this seat, once the seat has been set to the required position, it locks tight and can only be adjusted by taking the seat out of the car and lying it on a flat surface. Not to be mistaken for broken.
Who is this car seat best for?
It has such universal appeal, I can’t think of any child aged 3 or 4 and up to 12ish that wouldn’t benefit from using it. Unless of course, your daughter is still in her ‘pink’ stage!
MadeForMums verdict
Easy to install, extra inbuilt safety with Isofix anchors, high on comfort, and a fantastic cost per use investment.
