The all-important practicalities first: unlike so many other cots, the Cosatto Modo comes with three instead of only two mattress height settings. This may seem insignificant to the uninitiated, but we - like many others before and after us - had to throw out another cot around the 10-month stage because it didn’t have a third, deep mattress setting for our baby who was knocking on the door of toddlerhood.
At either end the Cosatto Modo Cot Bed has peek-a-boo windows in impact-resistant acrylic (so mum and dad don’t have to constantly get up to check on their little bundle). It also has all-important safety teething rails.
Then there’s the incredible style it exudes. Crafted from clean, green New Zealand pine – and sold in a classy, soothing Brazil and cream finish – the Cosatto Modo Cot Bed raises the bar when it comes to contemporary chic.
What we love
It’s big, it’s spacious, the mattress is 140cm long. Plenty of space for your adventurous baby to roll around in and grow.
Then there’s the look: in striking yet gender-neutral colours, this piece will complement any room. The Cosatto Modo Cot Bed will have style oozing from any nursery.
Best and most important of all, the Cosatto Modo Cot Bed is a piece of furniture that keeps on giving. Once baby has outgrown the cot, get out the screwdriver, follow the easy-as instructions and within minutes you’ve turned it into a junior bed – without losing any of the style.
And that’s not its only transformation trick. When a bigger bed is needed for your child a few years down the line, the Cosatto Modo Cot Bed can be turned into a small sofa.
Also, there’s the reassurance the four-year guarantee, which just shows how Cosatto is so confident of its quality.
What to watch out for
Getting almost no change out of £500 is a big outlay for a cot, even if it does have several lives after babyhood. That seems like a lot to spend when you have a new baby and already feel like you’re haemorrhaging cash.
Who is the Cosatto Modo Cot Bed best for?
New parents who want the whole stylish kit and caboodle in one hit.
It’s virtually impossible to fault the Cosatto Modo Cot Bed, as it’s a winner on the comfort, style, convenience and safety fronts. All in all you may well spend the same amount on the various cot/bed incarnations over the years and then still have to deal with getting rid of each mode as an upgrade arrives. At least with this you just keep adapting the original hardware - or have the upheaval of introducing a completely new bed when the time to leave the cot arrives!
