Wow. What a bright (both colourful and smart) product this is. The Cosatto On The Move Plus Highchair is definitely a winner in our household…
You may have thought that Cosatto had cracked it when they gave us the On The Move Highchair highchair, after all that proved to be a best seller. But no, they’ve gone one step further, and introduced the On The Move Plus, a new and improved model!
Basically, all the ‘Plus’ means is that it comes with a fab funky bag to carry it in. But it is far more dynamic, and with a free 4-year guarantee (in the UK & Ireland only), I feel it’s worth the extra £20.
Unlike other travel highchairs on the market, this one is the real deal i.e. full-sized. And although it’s fairly large (not cumbersome or heavy at all), it magically condenses down to flat pack, in one easy action - you squeeze the handle and it folds in two.
We decided to put it to the test on a camping trip with friends. It’s suitable for babies from 6 months of age, and we tried it out with our daughter Esme, 11 months, and our friends’ children - Oscar, 15 months, and Daniel, just 2.
What we love
Packing for a camping trip can be a bit crazy, there seems to be so much you may, or in my case, may not need! All I know is that the Cosatto On The Move Plus Highchair was the final thing to load as Esme had been eating lunch in it just before. Although the car was jam-packed, it easily slipped in on top of everything else. Already I was impressed.
On arrival, it was the first thing out, and it seemed like a good idea to contain Esme in it as we pitched the tent. She’s at that nomad stage where she’s permanently crawling off.
I opened the lightweight frame and hey presto, the Cosatto On The Move Plus Highchair was up! I strapped Esme in using the very safe 5-point harness. She was smiling at the gorgeous padded seat cover. Rather astutely the PVC is brightly coloured fruit and veg. And if that’s not sensible enough, the message EAT YOUR GREENS is stamped on the front. Now what mum can’t like that?!
Camping in Britain equates to one thing, right? RAIN. Lovely. Fortunately our large tent provided loads of covered space, so once everyone had arrived, we all gathered there for dinner. It was time for all three little ones to put the Cosatto On The Move Plus Highchair through its paces.
At the end the good-sized tray was covered with spaghetti bolognaise, but it wiped clean with no trouble. Even the food that spilt on to the chair was easy to clear up – the PVC cover made sure of that. Some food disappeared under the PVC, but I simply took it off later and got to the bottom of it then!
Wriggly Oscar was constrained without being suppressed and managed to eat his whole meal. And 2-year-old Daniel, who didn’t want to sit in a highchair at all, changed his mind when he got a good look at it. Esme ended up with more in her hair than mouth, but that is par for the course at the moment.
After feeding time at the zoo was over, and the rain had finally stopped, the six adults were left staring out to the looming black clouds on the horizon. Like I said, lovely! Meanwhile, all three kids seemed well fed and happy with what personally I felt was the best seat in the house… make that best seat in the tent!
And a last note: I love that this On the Move Plus Highchair does what it says on the tin. It is destined to wander (just like my daughter) and more. The ‘and more’ could be translated as remaining in your home, for the Cosatto On The Move Plus Highchair could easily be the only highchair you need possess.
What to watch out for
The back gently slopes, but Esme actually looks totally comfortable. If it did bother you, you could put a cushion behind your baby.
The price at £79.99 may seem expensive compared to other travel highchairs, but believe me it is worth indulging in.
Who is the Cosatto On The Move Plus Highchair best for?
Families on the move, and those wanting to buy just the one highchair for home and away.
MadeForMums verdict
Cosatto On The Move Plus Highchair is interesting and clever as well as practical and fun. It flat-packs in one easy squeeze, is small when folded, yet offers a comfy padded seat and good-sized tray when in use. While marketed as a travel option, you could certainly use this as your at-home highchair, too.
