Cybex is a German company that specialises in luxury car seats and prams and is known for fashion collaborations with the likes of music mogul DJ Khaled.

The 4-in-1 Lemo highchair is a premium "furniture concept" that the brand claims is designed for life, thanks to an innovative attachable bouncer, as well as a baby seat and removable tray, plus a seat and footrest that can be adjusted in numerous ways to fit a growing child.

Coming in at £369.95, this ‘all in’ highchair isn’t a budget buy – although it does have everything to take you from newborn to grown-up. It’s still a more affordable option than the famous Stokke Tripp Trapp, which costs £415 when you buy the chair, newborn set, baby set and tray.

About our parent tester

Emma Reynolds is an experienced journalist and editor living in South London who has worked at national newspapers and magazines for almost 15 years in London, Sydney and New York City. She has covered news, lifestyle, parenting and culture and is currently an editor at the i paper. She tested the product with her 9-month-old son Arlo and partner Tom.

What were your first impressions?

The Lemo looks attractive and modern as it comes out of the box and is well presented with just a few different parts – nothing that looks too fiddly. It’s clear it will be easy to put together. The wood and aluminium frame and plastic baby set are clearly top-quality materials. The sand and white colours are chic and will look great in a contemporary kitchen.

Unboxing Cybex Lemo highchair

How easy is the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair to assemble?

This highchair was a doddle to build thanks to an intuitive design and clear instruction images that were simple to follow. It’s all pretty self-explanatory as there are minimal parts and just 8 screws. No tools are required to put it together, and we were able to set it up in just minutes. Swapping the bouncer attachment for the seat is marginally more complicated and requires a (provided) Allen key, but doesn’t take long – you would only need to do this once your child starts eating solids.

What age is the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair suitable for?

Cybex claims this is a chair for life with an age range of birth to 99 years. I agree the chair would work for all ages and the timeless design would suit both children and adults.

Is it easy to use the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair?

Yes. The product was super simple to use with our 9-month-old. He slid in and out of the baby set with ease and it held him comfortably in place. The height and depth of the seat and footrest took just seconds to adjust to his dimensions.

What are the straps like on the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair?

In this pack, the baby is held securely in place with the plastic baby set. An adjustable 5-point harness is available to buy separately at £39.95, which would increase safety and help hold your child in place, especially if they can stand up on the footrest.

How comfortable is the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair for your baby?

This highchair is extremely comfortable for my baby thanks to the ergonomic baby set that fits over the wooden seat to provide a snug fit. The height and depth of the seat and the height of the footrest can all be adjusted to numerous different settings, so your child is perfectly supported as they grow. My baby was able to lean just slightly sideways in the baby set but it wasn’t a problem. However, I was concerned that he could stand up on the footrest if it was raised high enough for his feet to rest on it – the 5-point harness would be needed to prevent this.

Is the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair adjustable?

Yes, and this is where this highchair really shines. The manufacturer describes it as a “forever” chair for use from birth to 99 years old – and it is indeed the most adjustable highchair I’ve seen. You can alter the height of the chair to meet your table, with extendable legs that also prevent tipping. The seat and footrest can be moved up and down in tiny increments and the depth of the chair can be altered – all one-handed.

The bouncer attaches to the frame of the chair so your newborn can sit with you at table height from birth, either horizontally or semi-upright.

The tray and baby set will be ideal from around 6 months to 3 years, at which point you can remove both. You can remove the footrest around age 5 to use it as a normal chair as your child grows.

How easy is it to clean the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair?

The streamlined design means this highchair is easy to keep brilliantly spotless, with few hard-to-reach nooks and crannies where food could get stuck. The tray takes a second to remove and wipe clean, or you can pop it in the dishwasher. The bouncer fabric can be machine-washed at 30 degrees.

Does the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair take up much space?

The highchair is relatively compact at L56cm x W54cm x H8cm and looked neat at our medium-sized dining table. The extendable rear legs do stick out a little and the chair doesn’t fold away, so it wouldn’t be ideal for a very small area. However, it will look slick in your kitchen or dining room so you are likely to want it on display. It also takes up slightly less space with the tray removed.

Does the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair fold?

No, the Lemo highchair does not fold.

How easy is the 4-in-1 highchair to store?

The chair self-stands but is fairly compact and the tray can be removed to take up less space. The extendable rear legs can be removed, and the chair can be dismantled fairly quickly if you need to put it away, with the seat and footrest sliding out.

How heavy is the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair?

The Lemo is reasonably light considering its numerous features, weighing in at just 8.3kg. It’s light enough to move around the house if you need to.

Do you like the style of the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair?

Absolutely. The chair is clearly high-quality, with an elegant and stylish modern design. It will be an enviable addition to your kitchen or dining room and comes in an attractive range of colours – stone blue, suede grey, stunning black and sand white. Ours was the latter.

What do you think of the design of the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair?

Overall, fantastic. My only small quibble with the design is that the extensions for the rear legs that prevent tipping and raise the height are quite long, so could be a trip hazard in a small kitchen. You need a bit of space for this chair – however, it will look beautiful at your table for years to come.

What’s the tray like on the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair?

The tray is child’s play to remove and wipe clean or throw in the dishwasher, or ditch completely once your child is older. One annoying issue for me was that our suction plates did not stick to the tray, and our baby is going through a stage in which he likes to pick up and throw his plate and bowl.

What features of the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair do you particularly like?

This highchair is an excellent product and will last your family for years because it can be adjusted in so many increments. I love the bouncer attachment, which means you can place your baby in a cosy seat at table height from birth – you can even purchase a stand for the floor separately if you like.

The baby set is comfortable and the highchair is made from good quality materials that are easy to clean, with a well-sized removable tray.

How adaptable is the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair?

Very. The Lemo grows with your child using various attachments – first, an understated bouncer that’s nicely padded and sits at table height, then there’s the comfy plastic baby set and easy-to-remove tray. Finally, there’s a wooden seat that can be adjusted to a wide range of heights and depths and a height-adjustable footrest that can be removed completely for an older child.

The downside is that you need to purchase certain items separately for optimal functionality: the bouncer stand so you can place the bouncer on the floor and the harness to go with the baby set.

How does the 4-in-1 compare to previous Cybex Lemo highchairs?

The 4-in-1 Lemo “Forever chair” builds on the 3-in-1 with a new bouncer attachment that allows parents to have their newborn close by and their hands-free. This is a brilliant concept, and the bouncer holds its own against high-end standalone products, justifying the premium price.

You would need to purchase the bouncer stand to be able to use the bouncer on the ground as well as elevated, which would be useful by the living room sofa, for example. However, this extra cost is still reasonable compared with buying both a quality bouncer and highchair.

How does the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair compare to other highchairs you have used?

I have also used a Stokke Tripp Trapp (from £219), a Safety 1st Timba (£69.99) and the IKEA Antilop (£19). The sleek, modern Lemo rivals the popular Tripp Trapp in terms of stylish design that grows with the child, although the Tripp Trapp is solid wood so it offers a more traditional, rustic look as opposed to the Lemo’s contemporary, clean lines.

The Lemo is more expensive than the functional budget Antilop, but more attractive, sturdy and flexible. The Timba is priced in between these 2 and comparably attractive in appearance to the Lemo – but it is harder to clean with tough-to-reach crevices, only has a few different height settings the tray does not slide on and off. However, the Timba tray works better with my suction plates and it comes with a 3-point harness while the Lemo requires a separately purchased 5-point harness.

What’s in the box?

  • 1 x LEMO Highchair
  • 1 x LEMO Bouncer seat
  • 1 x LEMO Baby Set
  • 1 x LEMO Tray
  • 1 x Set of adapters

Are there any additional accessories you can buy?

  • Lemo bouncer stand, £89.95. Not essential, but probably worth it.
  • Lemo harness, £39.95. Arguably, essential for safety.

Now that you’ve tested it, what would you have wanted to know before buying the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair?

I would have wanted to know about the extra space the rear leg extenders take up and the fact that the tray doesn’t appear to work well with suction plates. I would also have wanted to know that the bouncer stand and harness would definitely be worth purchasing along with the 4-in-1 product, so I could factor this into the price.

Who would the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair be most useful for?

This product would be most useful for a family who hasn’t yet bought a separate bouncer and is looking for an aesthetically pleasing highchair to be proudly displayed in the home. The target audience would not be too budget-conscious and would be looking for a chair that will stand the test of time, to treasure for years to come.

Is it worth the money?

This highchair is a premium product and is priced at the upper end of the market. However, you do get a bouncer and a highchair in one, which makes the price sound more reasonable. It is a fantastic-looking item, made from high-quality materials and extremely comfortable for a growing child, as well as being easy to set up and clean.

The fact that a baby can stand up on the footrest and you have to buy a 5-point harness at an additional cost is a little irritating when the price is already so high. It was also frustrating that our suction plates and bowls didn’t stick to the plastic tray.

How does it compare to similar highchairs?

Where can I buy the Cybex Lemo 4-in-1 highchair?

Available from Cybex, Baby Planet and Boots.

MadeForMums verdict:

This highchair is practical, gorgeous and a delight to use. It’s so simple to set up and adjust in just a few steps, so it won’t cause you any headaches and you can use it from birth until your kids are grown. I love the well-padded bouncer and colours, and the fact we could adjust the depth of the seat and the height of the baby set and footrest so our son was perfectly cradled at table height.

The chair is refreshingly easy to clean with a removable tray that can go in the dishwasher and wipe clean surfaces without many nooks and crannies. Our suction plates didn’t stick to the tray, which was frustrating as our baby is going through a phase in which he likes to pick up and throw plates and bowls.

However, the tray was a good size to put finger food directly on. I think the 5-point harness and perhaps even the bouncer stand should be included in the price, but overall this is an attractive product that I would recommend to parents looking to invest in a high-quality highchair.
