What we love
The fact that it’s fun and functional is a big bonus. Sticking out like a helicopter control with James Bond-style ejector button for easy release, the unique handle isn’t simply a gimmick; it makes this seat much easier to carry and attach to a travel system. Weighing in at just under 3kg, the seat is one of the lightest models I have come across and is compatible with a range of I’coo pushchairs: Plasma, I’coo Peak 4, I’coo Peak 3 and I’coo Peak 8. I’m told by one mum who has a Plasma that it took just minutes to master.
The sun canopy fits the seat well and the detachable weather shield is another useful feature. The harness, adjustable from the back, was fairly straightforward to manoeuvre and the seat easy to install using the seatbelt slots. Thanks to its neat, compact size, the C-Care Plus was one of the easiest to fit in the car that I have come across. Its smallness also makes it compatible with any size car. With my tot Elsie nicely cocooned in the deep seat and protected under the handy zip-on, zip off rain cover, it’s a neat package to take out and about and is certainly a talking point, thanks to its unique design. Covers can easily be removed to wash and adjusting the five-way padded harness is a simple clunk-click manoeuvre.
It has a good-sized shell with detachable polystyrene inlay and high sides for extra protection. It also boasts a deep contoured seat with plenty of padding, including a head protector for newborns for extra safety and comfort.
What to watch out for
The overall sturdiness of the C-Care Plus was somewhat disappointing and despite its fabulous design it doesn’t feel like a premium product. It may have high side protection but the plastic shell only has a single layer, and there is no ventilation for those long, hot journeys.
I also found that the edges of the seat are a little on the rough side – although there’s padding to cover any part that will come into contact with your baby. The material is a tough nylon, so not the comfiest, and disappointingly you can’t adjust the angle of the seat.
Who is the i'coo C-Care Plus car seat best for?
Parents with a small car or who have opted for an I’coo travel system.
It’s lightweight, very portable, safe, reasonably priced and funky too boot. The downsides are the overall robustness, which is a shame given its cool, award-winning design.
