The only disposable nappy to use organic cotton, this new and improved version certainly feels more natural, although it is only the outer cover that’s organic. They certainly smell less toxic though and functionality certainly hasn’t been compromised.
With an advanced pad for long lasting absorbency and a super breathable cover that allows your baby’s skin to be kept fresh and dry, Huggies Natural Fit feels like a quality product. Throw in the unique Cuddle fit waistband designed to fit your baby on the move, stretchier ears and a Winnie the Pooh design, and this nappy certainly has a lot going for it.
This premium product comes with a higher price, however. For RRP £9.98, you get a pack of 56 nappies in size 3, 48 nappies in size 4, or 40 nappies in size 5.
What we love
The slightly higher price of these nappies is worth it if you’re not keen on toxic fumes. Heidi, my 8-month-old, has very sensitive skin, so using anything gentle is a bonus, and I try to use organic when I can. Knowing Huggies Natural Fit nappies are made from organic cotton made them appeal to me straightaway. It’s great to see a leading brand offering this, although I later realised it’s just the outer cover that’s organic. That said, when I rip open the pack there isn’t a chemical smell, so they must be doing something right. And with vitamin E contained in the liner, they are a gentler option.
Heidi is one active baby, and has been ever since I could first feel her move. When I first put a Huggies Natural Fit nappy on her I thought the tabs didn’t seem that sticky, but after a few hours of full-on crawling, falling and general mucking around, they hadn’t moved an inch. First test passed.
In terms of absorbency, I’ve used the nappies for the past couple of weeks, day and night, and haven’t had one leakage situation.
Huggies claims these Natural Fit nappies are for busy babies, and the company is right. They stretched with Heidi’s every move. The material didn’t feel as flexible as some other nappies but I was pleasantly surprised just how accommodating they were, and there were no rub marks left on Heidi’s skin.
I think these nappies are great, and even though I’ve finished testing them for MadeForMums, I’ve now switched to buying them for Heidi, which I suppose is a testament in itself.
What to watch out for
Huggies Natural Fit nappies are slightly more expensive compared to other leading nappies, but they do use organic cotton and for sensitive bottoms I think they are spot on.
They don’t feel as elastic and stretchy as one of their biggest competitors but I’ve found it’s not a problem – in my testing, they move just as well and don’t leave rub marks.
Although Huggies claims the nappies are made from organic cotton, it’s just in the outer cover.
Who are Huggies Natural Fit nappies best for?
Babies with sensitive skin who are always on the go.
A robust but gentle nappy that’s great for busy babies with sensitive bottoms. Made with an organic cotton outer cover and soothing vitamin E liner, Huggies Natural Fit seem kinder to sensitive skin than other leading disposable nappy brands, but retain full functionality and cope with all manner of bottomly behaviour.
