Pros

  • Slim-fitting, absorbent, great looking

Cons

  • Pricey, you need to buy different sizes as your baby grows

D’lish Snap in One, a company called itti bitti, are sized reusable nappies with a slim fit, quicker drying time and cult following.

There seem to be loads of fantastic cloth nappies coming out of Australia at the moment – Lish Fly, Mini LaLa and Cushie Tushies to name but a few – and itti bitti are the cream of the crop. They’re one of the few nappies that are flying in the face of the current trend for one-size, birth-to-potty nappies, as they’re sized. This means you start with ‘small’ and then buy ‘medium’ and ‘large’ as your baby grows. The upside of this is that itti bitti d’lish Snap in One nappies have a fantastic resale value, so once your baby’s outgrown one size, you’ll be able to recoup a big chunk of your money to invest in the next size up!

itti bitti d’lish Snap in Ones have gorgeously soft velour outer, with a waterproof PUL layer inside, and a suede cloth, stay-dry lining. The absorbent bit is made up of two parts: a trifold insert (you fold it in three to fit it in) and a smaller, hourglass-shaped insert. You pop the trifold one in at one end and the hourglass at the other – handily, the poppers are colour coded so even those with baby brain will be able to work out how to put it together! This sounds fiddly but it isn’t – the big insert folds in a very obvious way, and it’s very speedy to pop the inserts in and out.

The fact that there are two inserts means you can adjust the absorbency to suit you, by using them separately or together. If you feel you need an extra boost, you can buy an additional mini booster, made of microfibre, which attaches to the top of the hourglass with poppers.

itti bitti d’lish Snap in Ones fasten at the front with poppers, and while I normally prefer Velcro nappies as they’re quicker to get on a wriggly toddler, I love the neatness and style of the d’lish poppers. The nappies look very small, and when I saw the size ‘large’, I thought, “There’s no way that this will fit my chunky monkey”, but it does, and gives a lovely, neat fit right up to over age 2.

From time to time itti bitti bring out a range of limited edition prints. Most recently it was polka dots and animal prints. These are usually snapped up in minutes, and have an even higher resale value on secondhand nappy sites, so are well worth looking out for.

What we love

The itti bitti d’lish Snap in Ones are ‘all-in-one’ reusable nappies with a difference. Because the absorbent layer fastens with poppers instead of being stitched in, you can remove it for washing, and the drying time is much quicker. It also means that you can invest in a few extra inserts, and reuse the outer shell a few times, saving you money on buying as complete nappies.

The range of colours for d’lish Snap in One nappies is amazing, and there are plenty of cloth nappy-heads who make it their mission to get a complete set. Lots of them are unisex too, which I love as I sometimes feel there are more cute nappies available for girls than for boys.

My favourite thing about the itti bitti d’lish Snap in Ones is the slim fit. We have a few pairs of trousers in Jamie’s cupboard that can only be worn with disposables as we can’t fit his big fluffy bottom in. But in an itti Bitti nappy he can even wear his skinny jeans! Plus, while many slim-fitting nappies compromise on absorbency, the d’lish Snap in Ones are really effective, and we’ve never had a leak with either wee or poo.

What to watch out for

itti bitti d’lish Snap in Ones aren’t cheap, and you’ll have to buy more than one size. However, they’re by no means the most expensive reusable nappies around, and unlike some nappies that are all about style over substance, they actually do work!

itti bitti d’lish Snap in One nappies are very absorbent, particularly given their slimness, but I’d be wary of relying on them overnight. My baby’s a heavy wetter during the night and needs a big, chunky two-parter – and a d’lish Snap in One just won’t last the distance.

I’ve heard stories of the inner waterproof layer melting when left to dry on an overly hot radiator, or tumble dried too hot, so make sure you dry them carefully according to the instructions.

Who are itti bitti d’lish Snap in One nappies best for?

MadeForMums verdict

itti bitti d’lish Snap in One nappies are incredibly popular among cloth nappy users and are becoming a bit of a cult favourite. While the gorgeous looks and soft fabric make them a hit with those who can’t stop buying nappies, their ease of use and bombproof performance mean they’re popular with the more practical mums who want a nappy that’s value for money and actually works, too.
