The clever design allows the highchair to be converted into a table and chair set once my toddler, Biba, is ready. This is a really great feature and helps to justify the price.
As a highchair the Activa has some good features. It has a large seat that has removable and washable covers. The recline mechanism is smooth and a nice addition to help out with the weaning stage. It has a fully removable tray, which means the chair can be pushed up to the table, allowing Biba to join in with family mealtimes.
The highchair arrives flat packed. I found the instructions a little confusing and found that it was easier to look at the picture on the box. It is simple to construct, you just have to screw large plastic screws in with a big round plastic penny. It took about 10 minutes, but would have been quicker if I had discarded the instructions earlier!
What we love
My favourite feature on the Activa is the double tray. This is so useful if Biba has made a mess whilst eating. I take the top tray off to wash it and the she is still left with a tray to continue playing.
The one-handed recline mechanism has also been handy. The tray sits very close to Biba, so I would either need to remove the tray or recline it to get her in and out. I often forgot this fact and had already picked her up before I realised. It was so easy just to use my free hand to recline it.
The Jane Activa highchair converts quickly to a table and chair. You just have to push in two buttons and lift the chair section off the base. The lower part turns over to create a really sturdy table.
What to watch out for
I found the tray really small. It could just about take a side plate, but if I used a normal child-sized plate it wouldn’t fit and would end up straddling the tray.
Due to the 3-in-1 design, the highchair has a couple of disappointing aspects. It is quite large and you can’t fold it down. It wouldn’t be suitable if you’re limited for space. You can’t adjust the height of the highchair, which is a problem if you want to push it up to your table.
The straps don’t adjust to fit a very small baby. It’s suitable to be used for 6 months, but I would advise caution if your baby is on the smaller size.
Who is the Jane Activa best for?
Mums after a robust highchair that can be used in more ways than one.
A great option if you want a product that can continue to be used once your child’s passed the highchair stage. The Jane Activa is robust, sturdy and easy to use, however, it may not be the best option if you have a small kitchen or if you want to store your highchair away when not in use.
